Improving efficiency of channel incentive programs by validating partner claims.

It is common for technology companies to spend 20 percent of channel revenue on various partner incentive programs—rebates, special pricing, price protection, etc. While companies invest considerable time and effort in program design, they often cannot validate whether partner claims for incentive payments are appropriate and in accordance with program terms and conditions. Lacking good supporting data to make such decisions, companies sometimes choose to err on the side of caution and pay all partner claims. The result is that companies unknowingly overpay channel partners by an average of 10 to 15 percent every year, e.g. $20-30 million for every billion dollars in channel revenue. With Zyme's payment validation services, technology companies reduce financial leakage in their incentive programs, while improving partner satisfaction through faster validated payments.

Zyme's payment validation framework is applicable across rebate, price protection, ship and debit, and similar programs, and addresses two variations in this area:
  • Payments against channel partner programs that are claims-based, where partners submit a claim for the amount they believe they are owed.
  • Payments proactively calculated by manufacturers based on program rules and channel activity.
Zyme accepts three sets of data flows:
  • Cleansed and reconciled POS and inventory data from channel partners. This data is typically received on a weekly basis in an ongoing process.
  • Updates on program rules, program changes, and new programs. This information is typically received on a monthly or ad-hoc basis.
  • Claims submitted by partners and supporting documentation, if the process is claims-based. Claims are typically received on a daily or ongoing basis as submitted.
Zyme's methodology performs weekly calculations of total potential partner liability, based on the program rules and the POS and inventory data. These numbers provide clients with up-to-date data on total exposure from partner programs.
